Regional art museum

Regional art museum

The responsibilities of the regional art museum include activating the visual art scene in the Ostrobothnia region. The museum offers advice and provides expertise on art-related issues to municipalities, cultural institutions and communities in Ostrobothnia and to private persons. The museum offers advice on information retrieval and copyright issues. The museum does not provide services regarding questions related to identification, authenticity and value of the artworks. This information should be sought from reliable art markets and auctions sources.

The regional museum is also responsible for public art, such as monuments, statues and memorial plaques. The mapping of sites promotes knowledge about the public artworks and well-being. Citizens’ tips and information are welcome!

The city of Vaasa has released an application that locates Vaasa monuments and statues on a map. The application has a total of about 150 statues and monuments, as well as seven planned routes to explore in different places of the city. You can get acquainted with the application here. For more resources on Vaasa’s monuments and public art, you can visit Vaasa ennen ja nyt blog and Rojekti X.
