Getting to the museum
The Ostrobothnian Museum is accessible by your own vehicle or by local bus. The streets to the museum are not signposted.
Local transport
The Ostrobothnian Museum is located in central Vaasa, in the north-western part of the city centre. The distance from the market square to the museum is approximately 1 km, which is about a 15 minutes’ walk.
Bus no. 1 leaves Vaasa Market Square once an hour. The bus stop closest to the museum is at Kirkkopuistikko 11, just before Palosaari bridge. For timetable details, please go to the website of Vaasa local transport.
Parking
There is a small number of parking spaces for disabled visitors on the museum’s premises. More parking spaces can be found nearby in Koulukatu Street, Museokatu Street and Pikkukatu Street, just around the corner.
Accessibility
The entrance to the Ostrobothnian Museum is accessible and the museum spaces are mostly accessible. All exhibition floors can be reached by lift. There is no accessible entrance to the Coin Cabinet or to the Silver Room.
The darkness of the exhibition rooms and the colour scheme may make it somewhat hard to discern space.
There is an accessible toilet and baby care facilities in the museum. Strollers are available for small children and the café has high chairs. The museum also provides a wheelchair for the use of visitors.
All signs and captions in the museum are in Finnish and Swedish. If required, guided tours can be arranged in English. For price enquiries, please contact the information desk.
